A perfect Somerset wedding at North Cadbury Court

What a way to kick off 2025. A stunning wedding at North Cadbury Court in Somerset for a lovely young couple surrounded by their nearest and dearest.

Located between Sparkford and Wincanton, North Cadbury Court, is a beautifully appointed Grade 1 16th century mansion, at the centre of 1,500 acres. Without doubt it is one of the South West’s most exciting wedding venues and team create some of best weddings ever. You could take all weekend to find some of the truly magical hidden gems. Not least the first tee which sits high up on the roof top.

Natural Light

I’ve been to North Cadbury Court a few times now. Each and every time, brings something, but without doubt the consant wow factor is the natural light that floods the main rooms throughout the house. It is a dream to photograph in, even if the weather outside isn’t it’s beautiful best. And a wedding in February can be very hit and miss on the weather stakes – we were definitely lucky. after three days of torrential rain, Saturday dawned clear.

The bride was surrounded by her family and friends, what a way to get ready for a wedding. Her dress, train and veil were by Spanish designer Rosa Clara, a real statement for a young bride. The bridesmaids were dressed in dark green dresses by Coast. All their hair was by the very talented Leanna Biggs and they all did each other’s make up. Already the giggles were evident and the emotion was building.

Family tears

With everyone dressed, the bride prepared for the first of three reveals. The expressions on her bridesmaids faces were a total picture. Next up her older brother, so lovely to photograph his heartfelt emotion as he opened the door. Hankies to the ready as he reduced the whole room to happy tears! Finally, her father came in and was truly stunned by his beautiful daughter as he saw her just moments before he walked her up the aisle to her waiting husband.

We headed down the beautifully decorated staircase, briefly taking a few candles with us! The cemerony was in the North Hall and the guests lined three sides of main hall. As the bride and her father came through the doors, you could almost see her husband’s heart skip a beat. After a lovely short ceremony, we headed outside for a combined guard of honour and confetti throw and the party got underway.

Party Time

The reception got going and The French Kitchen provided delicious eats and main meal. In between, the sun shone and I took the opportunity to snaffle the bride and groom away for some portraits around the garden. Once again the light was on our side and the couple were able to take a breath, relax and reflect before being welcomed into the ballroom by their waiting guests. Let the party commence.

From wedding breakfast to funny and emotional speeches, on to cutting their very clever cheese cake and then we slipped outside to blow up a couple of champagne bottles for the best shot of the day. The finale – a wonderful first dance followed by the whole wedding party piled on to the dance floor.
