A Spring Wedding at Edes House, Chichester

An Intimate Spring Wedding at Edes House and The White Horse, Chilgrove
As a wedding photographer, I’m always honoured to capture love stories that are full of heart and character. This beautiful, intimate and hugely emotional wedding began in the heart of Chichester and carried on into the rolling hills of the South Downs. It’s one I’ll never forget.
Spring wedding vibes
On a bright and unseasonably warm March morning, the bride began her preparations with her best friend, who was also her maid of honour, and mum by her side. The atmosphere was filled with quiet excitement, soft laughter and a few happy tears. The natural light was perfect for capturing relaxed, candid moments and as the final touches came together, the bride’s father’s reaction to his daughter was unforgettable.
The wedding ceremony took place in the Norfolk Room at the elegant Edes House – a stunning Georgian building right in the centre of Chichester. With only 35 guests, the ceremony felt incredibly personal and heartfelt. As the bride walked down the aisle, the groom’s first sight of her was just the very best. He was totally blown away. With every vow full of emotion, I felt truly privileged to document each tender moment.

Perfect pub reception
After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests headed off to The White Horse in Chilgrove. The White Horse is a charming and beautifully refurbished countryside pub which is the perfect setting for an intimate reception. The sun stayed with us all day, casting a golden glow over the hills and making the outdoor group shots feel warm and joyful.
We took some relaxed family photos in the garden. I then took the bride and groom for a short wander to do some couple portraits. The combination of spring light, gentle breeze and two people very much in love made for some truly magical images. It was a perfect moment for them to spend a few minutes to absorb their day before heading in to be greated by their guests.
Emotional moments
The wedding breakfast was full of laughter and great food. Every speech was both touching and funny. And there were more than a few tissues making an appearance. It was clear that every guest felt truly connected to the couple, which made the day feel even more special.
As the sun dipped behind the hills, the bride and groom cut their cake and headed straight into an informal first dance to a great accoustic duo. A perfect end to a day that was all about love, connection, and meaningful moments.
