How often do UK wedding photographers get to spend How often do UK wedding photographers get to spend an hour with their couples to have fun in a totally chilled way, mostly spent laughing?

Put simply we don't. Timing is always tight and I'm lucky if I get 20 minutes with most of my couples. So when the weather stopped play, I hatched a plan with Max & Sam to meet up a couple of days later and they were so up for. I cannot thank them enough for giving me their time at the end of their mini moon and for being completely happy to go along with some of my more crazy ideas.

We didn't have to rush, we could go where we pleased and everyone we met congratulated them.

I'm a big fan of black & white images, they will always make up a small selection on every gallery I deliver. These are possibly my favourites. In the first, they simply stopped for a moment on the stairs, lit by a single off camera flash. Not posed, not formal, just being themselves in a moment. The second was one we'd wanted to do from the start, tucked away in market cross reflecting on the love, laughter and emotion of the last few days. Again a single flash in a soft box to light them. As for the third - when I found this little alcove I knew it was perfect spot. I'd thought it would be a good posing location, but we didn't need to. The laughter was as natural as it looked.

Moments like these are what make album worthy images - relaxed, heartfelt, fun.

What a way to bounce back. This was such a special What a way to bounce back. This was such a special day. Talk about emotional, I don't think there was a dry eye in the house as Max & Sam got married on Saturday.

Our original plans for a little pre-ceremony street photography around Chichester were shelved at the last minute as After weeks of sun, the weather imploded in us. This proved to be a positive as it meant neither of their families had seen their suits until they entered the Richmond Room at Edes House. What a reaction. It's not often a groom blows his mother-in-law a kiss before he gets married.

After the ceremony, we had a moment of no rain to grab a few family group shots outside and enjoyed a short reception before everyone headed off to dinner.

But the fun didn't stop there. Max, Sam & I reconvened back in Chichester on Monday afternoon to pick up where we left off. We set off to Bishop's Palace gardens to set up the couple portraits we'd originally planned all those months ago. I'm really not sure who had more fun - Max & Sam or me? So much laughter was had. They were so happy and relaxed, such a good decision to split the time we had into two days. It worked brilliantly which was totally down to the fact that Max & Sam were staying locally and prepared to adapt their plans to get the photos they really wanted.

I can't thank them enough for being themselves at their most fun.

Turning the clocks back to wish S & G the happiest Turning the clocks back to wish S & G the happiest of anniversaries today.

I had a wonderful dual role of being part of a very special family wedding and photographer. I had just the best day being able to document such an amazing day as much from the inside as being a guest. Not always the easiest gig to pull off, but I loved every minute of it - and I got to sit down with family and friends for the most delicious meal too, so I didn't miss out!

The love for these two was in every corner and it was a truly international day with the bride's family flying over from Canada and many others jetting in from far and wide.

Wishing you the best of days with your little munchkins who have joined you.

Planning your wedding After photographing wedding Planning your wedding

After photographing weddings for over a decade, I've learned one thing…

The best wedding photos don't happen by chance. They happen when your day has just enough planning to let you relax and enjoy it.

* Build a timeline with breathing room.
* Allow extra time for travel.
* Check your ceremony photography rules if you're marrying in church.
* Don't underestimate the time needed for family photos.
* Sneak away for 10 minutes at sunset—you'll never regret it.

My role isn't just to take beautiful photographs. It's to help your day flow naturally, keep things calm when timings drift (because they always do a little), and capture the moments that matter most.

Every wedding is different, but thoughtful planning means you'll spend less time watching the clock and more time soaking up every second of your day.

The first in a new series of planning blogs is now available on my website, so head over there for some of my favourite planning tips to help make your wedding day feel relaxed, joyful and completely yours.

What part of planning has surprised you most so far?
