10 things I love being a wedding photographer

There could be 100 or more, but for now these are probably my favourites

So many people ask me what it is I enjoy about being a wedding photographer. Honestly, there are so many reasons. In the first of two journal posts, I outline briefly 10 reasons that are top of my list.

I can’t necessarily say which order they come in as the following points are at the heart of what makes me tick. Being part of a couple’s day of a lifetime is such a privilege. And no two wedding days are the same, even if they are the same family, same venue, or the same time of year.

Let’s kick off

Being there as your photographer to capture the love and laughter of your wedding day is the best feeling.

Every photograph is taken to create lasting memories. I plan it so if you want me to design an album for you, the images will fill the pages

Being able to tell your love story in an editorial way. I’m a virtual fly on the wall with the best vantage points throughout the day

Building the vision you have for your day into my photography. Hearing about your plans as they evolve adds to the excitement

Building your trust as the plans evovle so that you will be totally at ease with a camera focusing on you all day long

I describe myself as the invisible photographer. I’m never in your way, but always front and centre of the day’s events from beginning to end.

No two weddings are the same, which makes every day a new day in photography terms. I love that – not least because it ensures I keep creative

There’s nothing better than building a community. From fellow photographers to florists, venues, caterers and hair & make up artists

Being a bit of a foodie, I’ve been incredibly spoilt when it comes to being fed and watered. It’s something that I really appreciate on long days

Ultimately I love being part of your day, getting to know you as your day evolves. It’s a privilege to be a wedding photographer
